The Sigma Lambda Beta Educational Foundation would like to honor our contributors by spotlighting them. We hope to help others learn about the kind of people who contribute to the Foundation and why they contribute. Our first spotlight contributor is:

Brother Ian Bautista
Brother Ian lives in Kansas City, Missouri with his wife Elsa, daughter
Iana, and foster son Ryan. Elsa is working on contract for the
Federal Aviation Administration as the Hispanic Employment Program Manager
and Ian is currently the Deputy Director of
El Centro, Inc. a nonprofit agency whose purpose is to create
and sustain educational, social and economic opportunities for
families (www.elcentroinc.com).
Brother Ian was one of 13 founding members of the Phi Chapter at Kansas State University. When we asked him about the benefits he derived out of being a member of Sigma Lambda Beta Fraternity, Ian stated, It has caused me to think of priorities first. The positive policies and practices have caused me to focus on the positive things in my life while deemphasizing the negative behaviors that I had fallen into as a younger person. Most of all, it has facilitated the process of cultivating very honorable friendships and brotherhood bonds with men that I would have only known as acquaintances otherwise.
As a monthly contributor to the Educational Foundation, Brother Ian continues to show his love for Sigma Lambda Beta. To those that much is given, much is expected. We, my wife and I, are not wealthy. However, we are not struggling. I strongly believe that I must give back to the organizations and institutions that have made me who I am. While I now have less money monthly as it goes to the Foundation, I know that it will be well managed and will pay off in the form of scholarships, programming, and benefits that are necessary if Sigma Lambda Beta is to grow through stronger membership and academic achievement. Sigma Lambda Betas Foundation is the future of growth for our beloved organization and community welfare.
Brother Ian believes that by sacrificing time talent and treasure to worthy causes such as the Foundation blessings will be returned to him and his family. According to Ian, Continuous improvement is the never ending goal. This is the mantra I live by. Of course we should celebrate accomplishments and anniversaries. But our best accomplishments and work are ahead of us. Now that we have our Foundation we must make it the best Latino-Greek foundation in the world, then the best minority-Greek foundation, then the best Greek foundation, then the best foundation.
Thanks to outstanding brothers like Ian Bautista, the Sigma Lambda Beta Educational Foundation is able to continue Fueling the Light by serving the brothers of Sigma Lambda Beta.
