Brother David "El Arquitecto" Pacheco

Dear Sigma Lambda Education Foundation Donors,

I would like to voice my sincerest gratitude to the donors of the Sigma Lambda Beta Education Foundation for bestowing upon me this scholarship.  Over the years you have helped numerous brothers with their financial burdens and I am tremendously honored you have chosen me this year.  Personally, I will be using this scholarship to assist in funding this spring semester and to continue pursuing a Mechanical Engineering and Spanish dual matriculation.  Not only does your generous contribution aid me financially but it has given me hope for a better academic year after struggling through a rough fall semester.

Growing up in South Sioux City, Nebraska, I chose to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to continue my academic career because of the prestigious credentials this university has attained.  Although I was excited to enter this new chapter in my life I was aware of my family's financial situation and I could only hope that scholarships and loans would cover my expenses.  Joining the Fraternity allowed me to establish relationships that helped me through any financial obstacles that were placed before me.  Sigma Lambda Beta has brought me together with talented, self-driven Latinos, not only on campus but nationally as well.  It is often difficult to find successful, educated Latinos but this Fraternity has provided support many seek in order to strive for excellence even beyond their post-secondary education.

Once again, I want to thank you for your generous gift and I hope to strive academically to exceed our scholastic standards established by the brothers before me.  It is clear to me that the foundation has had a tremendous impact with assisting brothers through their avenues of education and continuing the advancement of excellence within the fraternity.  It is my wish that one day, as an engineer, I will be able to give back to my future brothers who will face adversity in their lives as I have in my short time here at the University Nebraska-Lincoln.

Sincerely,

#37 David "El Arquitecto" Pacheco
